Z31 EGR Valve
The EGR Control Valve controls the volume of exhaust gas led into the intake manifold through a vertical movement of a taper valve connected to a diaphragm that receives vacuum in response to the opening of the throttle. The chart below will explain when the EGR valve is opened.
In the Exhaust Gas Recirculation System, some of the exhaust gas is returned to the combustion chamber to lower the flame temperature during combustion. This results in a reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx) density in the exhaust gas.
When the EGR Control Valve is open, some of the exhaust gas is led from the exhaust manifold to the EGR tube. The exhaust gas is then regulated by the EGR valve and introduced into the intake manifold.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) System Operation
The signal from the ECCS control unit is sent to the EGR control solenoid valve, which cuts the vacuum line for the EGR control valve when any of the following conditions are met:

Installation
Installation Tip: When installing the EGR valve and its guide tube, take care to ensure the port is pointing toward the rear of the engine. This positioning is crucial for optimal distribution efficiency of the exhaust gases into the intake manifold.
