In 1981 and 1982, Datsun sponsored the Caesars Palace Grand Prix F1 Race in Las Vegas, supplying the pace car — a Silver, Black, and Red Turbo 280ZX. The car featured a front air dam inspired by their SCCA race cars and a rear wing similar to the 280ZX-R models, making it stand out on the track.

In 1983, Activision ran the "Enduro Race-For-Riches Sweepstakes". The grand prize was a Datsun 280ZX pace car and a trip for two to Caesars Palace Grand Prix Weekend. Other prizes included a Datsun 200SX Hatchback SL, trips, radio-controlled cars, Activision Grand Prix video game cartridges, and Datsun Racing posters.
