This plate is under the bonnet. The model code on it decodes like this:

1. Blank = standard roof (slicktop); K = T-top
2. Blank = VG20ET engine; P = RB20DET engine; H = VG30ET engine; R = VG30DE engine
3. Blank = 2-seater; G = 2+2 seater
4. Model of car: Z31
5. Blank = Z (200Z) and 200ZR-I; J = ZS and 200ZR-II; X = ZG, 300ZR and 300ZX
6. Blank = 5-speed manual; A = automatic
7. Blank = non-turbo; T = turbo

2. Open My garage, pick Z31 JDM Fairlady Z under “Which Z?” and enter the frame number from the plate in the engine bay, e.g. HZ31-012345.
3. If the car is already in the registry and no other member has it, it goes straight into your garage with the details you entered. Otherwise an admin confirms the claim, usually within a day or two. Sold the car? Transfer it to the buyer from your garage and it stays in the car’s history.
